Home Solar Power Made Easy - Simple Projects to Save You Money
Welcome to the Home Solar Power Guide. I'd like to share my 30+ years of engineering experience with you so you can save on your energy bills (and they're only going up) and we can help save the planet.
Let's face it. There's never been a better time to investigate using solar energy to power up our home solar systems. The government has stepped in with solar credits to help off set the solar power installations.
I'm here to help guide you through solar system installations. Let me give you a little background info on me so you can see why I'm qualified to lead the way for you.
I'm currently the Chief Engineer of the 2nd tallest (almost 1200 feet) building in New York City. The Bank Of America Tower is currently NYC's only Platinum LEED certified skyscraper in the city. Here are some of the systems I oversee:
Three independent chilled water plants to support the building's comfort cooling and Data Center needs.
Four Uninterruptable Power Systems (UPS) comprising more than 4 thousand wet cell batteries to support 100% uptime for the Bank's systems.
Twenty Automatic Power Transfer Switches that detect power disruptions to automate generator start up.
Six 2 meg (2000 kilowatt) emergency generators in the event of power disruption.
Oversee a staff of more than twenty engineers to manage the building's infrastructure.
These are some but not all of the "Green" aspects of the Tower:
Recovered rain water is captured though the roof drains and collected then strategically placed in storage tanks throughout the building. This “gray” water supplies flushing water to the bathroom stalls.
Waterless urinals and low-flow fixtures further reduce water consumption.
50 % of the building's construction material are recycled and recovered from from within 500 mi of NYC.
Hi performance glass provides max sunlight for interior building spaces.
All floor fan filters are hi performance (charcoal) to insure optimum air filtration and provide 95 % air filtration to optimize air quality.
Daytime dimming of lights to further reduce energy use
A thermal storage system located in the basement levels produces ice in the evening, when Manhattan electricity demand and rates are lowest.
I don't want to bore you with too much more detail but I think you get the idea. My familiarity with HVAC and power systems naturally lends itself to home solar power installations. Compared to the building that I oversee home solar systems are a breeze!
So follow along with me and let my Home Solar Power Guide help save you money as well as our environment. If we all pitched in and did this we would get that double reward plus get ourselves a step closer to true energy independence. Think about it - do we really want to keep sending our hard earned money to other countries - most of which (and I'm being kind)laugh at us? One last note. One of the most important aspects of saving energy using home solar power has to do with your roof and windows. So be sure to get excellent roofing advice from NJ’s Best Roofing Contractor . You'll be happy that you did.
